1. Who we are
CartChkr is an independent Chrome browser extension developed and operated in Australia. Our website is cartchkr.com.au. You can contact us at support@cartchkr.com.au.
2. What data CartChkr collects
CartChkr collects almost nothing. Here is a complete list of what the extension accesses and why:
- Your Woolworths and Coles cart pages — the extension reads product names, quantities, and prices from your open browser tabs solely to perform the price comparison. This data is processed locally and is never transmitted anywhere.
- Woolworths and Coles search APIs — the extension sends product search queries to the same APIs your browser would use when you shop on those sites. These requests are made using your existing authenticated session (your login) and are indistinguishable from normal browsing.
- Email address (paid users only) — if you purchase a paid plan, your email address is stored by ExtensionPay (our licensing provider) and Stripe (our payment processor) to manage your licence. We do not store it ourselves.
We do not collect: browsing history, search history, cart contents beyond the current session comparison, personal information, device identifiers, location data, or any analytics or behavioural data.
3. How your data is used
The cart and price data the extension reads is used only to generate the comparison shown to you in the extension panel. It is processed entirely on your device (your browser) and is discarded when you close the extension. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted to CartChkr or any third party.
If you have a paid licence, your email is used solely to verify your licence status when the extension starts. This is handled by ExtensionPay's servers using a secure token lookup.
4. Third-party services
CartChkr uses the following third-party services:
- ExtensionPay — licence management for paid users. Their privacy policy is at extensionpay.com/privacy.
- Stripe — payment processing for paid users. Their privacy policy is at stripe.com/au/privacy.
- Netlify — hosts this website. Netlify may log standard web server access logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp). Their privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy.
CartChkr has no relationship with Woolworths Group Limited or Coles Group Limited. The extension interacts with their public-facing website APIs using your own authenticated session, in the same way your browser does when you shop normally.
5. Data storage and retention
CartChkr stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage.local API:
- Your licence status (paid/free) — a boolean flag, refreshed from ExtensionPay on extension start.
- Debug logs (if debug mode is enabled) — stored only in your browser, cleared on each scan.
No data is stored on CartChkr's servers. We have no servers that receive user data.
6. Permissions the extension requests
The Chrome extension requests the following permissions and uses them only as described:
- Access to woolworths.com.au and coles.com.au — to read your cart pages and make price comparison API calls.
- Side panel — to display the CartChkr comparison interface in Chrome's side panel.
- Storage — to save your licence status locally.
CartChkr does not request access to all websites, your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, or any sensitive permissions beyond those listed above.
7. Children's privacy
CartChkr is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights (Australian Privacy Act)
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to access and correct any personal information we hold about you. Since CartChkr holds almost no personal data, in practice your rights are:
- Licence/payment data — contact ExtensionPay or Stripe directly to access, correct, or delete your data held by those services.
- Support emails — if you've emailed us, you can request deletion of our correspondence at any time by emailing support@cartchkr.com.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of CartChkr after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we'll post a notice on cartchkr.com.au.
